Govt gives green light to Anhui coal-to-gas project

Anhui-based SDIC Xinji Energy Co., Ltd. has been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission to start preliminary work on a large coal-to-gas project, the company said in a statement late April 24.<br /> <br /> The project, to be located in Huainan, is part of a large-scale coal and gas integration project planned by the provincial government during the 12th Five-Year Plan period.<br /> <br /> It will have a production capacity of 2.2 billion cubic meters of syngas per annum, with total investment cost up to 30 billion yuan, according to the statement.<br /> <br /> Coal produced by SDIC Xinji Energy’s nearby Yangcun Coal Mine, which has a designed annual capacity of 5 million tonnes, will be used raw material to produce syngas, the company said.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Anhui plans to process 12 million tonnes of raw coal annually and supply the manufactured gas to Shanghai, Jiangsu and other coastal provinces through the West-to-East pipeline.<br /> <br /> <p> SDIC Xinji Energy Co., Ltd was founded in 1997 by SDIC Coal Co., Ltd., Guohua Energy, and anhui Xinji Coal and Power Group. With coal reserves of 10.16 billion tonnes in a mining field of 1,092 square kilometers, the company has an approved production capacity of 35.9 million tonnes.&nbsp; </p> <p style="text-align:center;"> <img src="/upfiles/news/image/20140504/20140504174846_5048.jpg" alt="" /> </p>
