President Obama’s war on coal continues and is now having a devastating effect on employment and on mining communities. The war on coal must bestopped.

Everyone who attends the Bluefield Coal Show will be given the opportunity to have their voiceheard. The Greater BluefieldChamber of Commerce has againteamed up with the National Mining Association (NMA) and is launchinga massive campaign, Count onCOAL. This campaign is to allow bothexhibitors and attendees to easily send letters to their U.S. Senatorsand U.S. House Representative. The focus is on “Support Affordable Electricity” and “Support Coal Jobs.” Everyone who attends the Bluefield Coal Show is urged to sign up for Count on COAL and send their letters. Over the past few years, Washington, D.C. has filed many new regulations on coal – America’s most abundant and affordable source of electricity. These regulations impact the nation by eliminating well-paid jobs, slowing the economy, while causing household electricity bills to skyrocket.

Marc Meachum, President and CEO, Greater Bluefield Chamber of Commerce, said, “We are delighted to partner with the National Mining Association again to give everyone who attends the coal show the opportunity to have their voice heard by their political representatives in defense of the coal industry.” Meachum added that members of the coal mining community “should not hesitate to take an active role in advocating the critical part coal plays in providing jobs and shaping America’s economic and national security.”

Early indications are that around 7,500 people are expected in Bluefield, West Virginia to attend the Bluefield Coal Show, September 11- 13. Sponsored by the Greater Bluefield Chamber of Commerce, the show attracts attendees from across the United States, as well as Canada, Australia, Brazil, and Switzerland.

Count on COAL is a campaign to make America aware of the benefits of affordable, reliable, coal-generated electricity. From homes to businesses to schools, hospitals, and local governments, we all benefit from affordable electricity with stable prices and reliable delivery. Count on COAL is a grassroots organization that seeks to identify, educate, and recruit Americans to support the mission to keep electricity affordable by protecting and promoting the use of our abundant coal for power generation. The Coal Show will be opened by Robert E. Murray, Founder, Chairman, President and CEO, Murray Energy Corporation after his Keynote Address at the Media Appreciation Breakfast on
Wednesday, September 11, 2013.
