EU-27 Construction Output up 0.8 Percent in June Over May

According to first estimates released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, in June this year the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in the European Union member states (EU-27) increased 0.8 percent as compared to May and was down by 1.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. In May, production had increased by 0.3 percent compared to the previous month.

In the euro area, the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in June this year rose 0.7 percent month on month, while decreasing by 1.5 percent compared to June 2012. In May production had increased by 0.5 percent month on month.

Building construction in the EU-27 in June increased by 0.5 percent month on month and was down 1.2 percent compared to June 2012, while civil engineering increased by 1.5 percent from May and was down 2.5 percent as compared to June last year.

As compared to May, construction output in June increased in Slovenia by 10.5 percent, in Poland by 5.3 percent, in Germany by 1.6 percent and in the Czech Republic by 1.3 percent, while a decrease of 2.4 percent was registered in Romania, a decline of 2.2 percent was recorded in Portugal and a decrease of 0.9 percent was recorded in Sweden.
