Shaanxi, the third largest coal producer in China, will suspend some government fees and eliminate illegal charges to help the struggling coal sector, as weak demand and lower prices continue to weigh on the industry, according to authorities.

The province will continue to waive the coal price regulation fund which previously was charged at15 yuan/t, according to a document released by the provincial government in early May.

Additionally, the 1 yuan/t soil erosion prevention fee and coal weighing charges will be suspended, while any fees not approved by the provincial or higher government authorities will be abolished, the document said.

Shaanxi also reiterated that the mine simple reproduction fee and mine safety charges should be placed in a special fund controlled by miners themselves, not the local governments.
