A new train connection between Graz (Austria) and Frankfurt (Germany) is taking to the rails in January 2016. The service will be operated by Wenzel Logistics which is augmenting up its intermodal portfolio by the destination.
In addition to rail services in Germany’s Ruhr basin and Benelux, Wenzel’s offer ensures that the Frankfurt conurbation has a link to Styria (and bordering countries). The train will be operated daily in both directions and haul a payload of up to 29 t.
Like Wenzel’s other offers, the service will be launched as a pilot project within the framework of the EU’s Nextrust research programme. The aim of the programme is to establish sustainable logistics processes through interlinked collaborations, and achieve a modal shift from road to rail by consolidating goods flows.
