Bazhun railway, a coal dedicated rail line owned by state-owned Shenhua Group, went into official operation on November 15, further boosting coal transport capacity in coal-rich Inner Mongolia, the group said on November 17.

The 128-km railway, located in Ejin Horo Banner and Zhunger Banner at Ordos city, northern China’s Inner Mongolia, starts from Batuta Station of the Shenmu-Baotou railway in the west to Diandaigou Station of the Datong-Zhungar railway in the east.

Transport capacity of the railway, which was completed construction in late October of 2013, is expected to reach 170 million tonnes annually in the long term.

Together with other railways built by Shenhua, such as Shenmu-Shuozhou railway and Shuozhou-Huanghua railway, the railway will help deliver more coal from Inner Mongolia to coastal ports in northern China, easing transport bottleneck in coal-rich western Inner Mongolia.
